This Online Fire Extinguisher & Fire Safety  Course will guide you through all aspects of Fire Safety & Extinguishers including: hot work, fire watch, carbon monoxide, hazard identification, fire facts, prevention, protection, preparation, extinguisher types & use, and emergency response.

Upon completion of this course, learners will understand how the hazards of the work the do may contribute to fires and be better prepared to prevent fires, and respond appropriately in case of a fire.  Participants will also be trained on what to do proactively to eliminate fire hazards in the workplace and how to extinguish fires or react in case of an emergency. Upon completion of the final exam, students will be issued a printable certificate as proof of training.

After completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Recognize work that meets the definition of Hot Work
  • Understand different precautions for Hot Work
  • Understand the role of Fire Watch
  • Be familiar with the Hot Work Permit System
  • Recognize the nature and hazards associated with Carbon Monoxide
  • Understand the health effects of Carbon Monoxide exposure
  • Understand and recognize the symptoms of Carbon Monoxide exposure
  • Recognize different sources of Carbon Monoxide
  • Understand basic controls
  • Understand the combustion process and different fire classes
  • Understand fire extinguisher types and operating procedures
  • How to identify the correct means of extinguishing a fire
  • Fire extinguisher use and the PASS system
  • How to respond in a fire emergency situation
  • Understand fire extinguisher placement and inspections

There is a short quiz at the end of each section.

The certificate is valid for 36 months (3 years).

LENGTH: 2 HOURS

You must have unique emails for each person being registered for the course - you cannot register multiple people under the same email address

  • Training may be paused or resumed at any time.
  • You may require additional workplace specific training by your employer.
  • A minimum score of 75% is required to pass this course.
  • You will have 2 attempts to pass and your final score will be printed on your certificate.

A student is anyone in (or returning to/starting in the fall) High School, College, University, Private Skills Training School, or who is participating in their apprenticeship for their respective trade.

Day rates are available for companies booking full classes. Additional fees such as travel costs may be on top of the training fee depending on distance.
