WORKPLACE BULLYING

OHS Regulations require employers and employees to recognize and address bullying and harassment in the workplace. This course provides learners with information and insight to recognize and address bullying behaviour as well as strategies for advocating respectful behaviour in the workplace. Learners examine the definition, dynamics and impact of workplace bullying and explore effective strategies to stop the bullying cycle in an organizational environment. 

This course will be beneficial for all levels of employees. Courses can be set up to maximize delivery to upper management, supervisors, or frontline staff. 

Topics include:

  • Definitions
  • The Bully 
  • The Victim
  • Organizational cost to workplace bullying
  • Cyber-bullying
  • Organizational Culture
  • Dealing with bullying (as both the organization and indivdual)

Non-confidential case scenarios are encouraged during the discussions in order to assist with situational problem solving and planning.

Previous discussions topics have included issues such as:

  • Dealing with motorists when doing traffic control
  • Managing the generational gap in work expectations  
  • Working with the public
  • Working with volitile personalities

A student is anyone in (or returning to/starting in the fall) High School, College, University, Private Skills Training School, or who is participating in their apprenticeship for their respective trade.
